OCR is not 100% accurate. Results depend on image quality, fonts, language and handwriting — please review the text before using it.

How to extract Gujarati text from an image

  1. Add an image of the Gujarati text — drag and drop, browse, or paste a screenshot.
  2. Make sure Gujarati (ગુજરાતી) is selected as the OCR language.
  3. Choose Extract text. The first run downloads about 1.2 MB of Gujarati language data plus the OCR engine.
  4. Review the text, fix any errors, then copy it or download it as a .txt file.

Tips for accurate Gujarati OCR

  • Sharp detail matters. Gujarati has no headline joining letters, so small marks such as vowel signs, the anusvara (ં) and conjuncts like ક્ષ and જ્ઞ must be clearly visible.
  • Photograph straight on. Keep lines horizontal and rotate the image if needed.
  • Printed text works best. Handwritten Gujarati is rarely recognized well.
  • Mixed Gujarati and English? Run Gujarati first; if English words are wrong, run the image again with English selected.

Unicode Gujarati you can paste anywhere

The extracted text is standard Unicode Gujarati, which works in Word, Google Docs, WhatsApp, email and on the web. Programs that rely on older non-Unicode Gujarati fonts need a font converter to display it.

Gujarati OCR questions

Can it read handwritten Gujarati?

Usually not well. The Gujarati model is trained on printed text, so expect errors with handwriting.

Is the image uploaded?

No. OCR runs in your browser. Only the open-source OCR engine and the Gujarati language file are downloaded from the jsDelivr CDN.

Can I convert a Gujarati PDF?

Save each page as an image (PNG or JPG) first, then add the images — up to 10 at a time — and the text is combined into one result.

Some letters are wrong — what can I do?

Use a larger, sharper image, crop out everything except the text, and try Enhance image for faint or coloured text.

Other languages

The same converter also reads English, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Arabic and 9 more languages — just change the OCR language menu above. See the full language list, or the guides for Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu.
