About ImageToText OCR
ImageToText OCR is a free website for extracting text from images. It was built to be simple, fast and private: your images are processed on your own device instead of being uploaded.
How it works
The site is a static web page made with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. When you extract text, your browser loads Tesseract.js — a WebAssembly port of the open-source Tesseract OCR engine — together with the trained data for the language you chose. Recognition then runs in a background worker inside your browser.
Because the work happens on your device, speed depends on your device: a modern laptop usually reads a page in a few seconds, while older phones take longer.
What it can do
- Read printed text from JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF and TIFF images.
- Recognize 17 languages, including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese.
- Process up to 10 images in one batch, with rotation and an optional contrast enhancement.
- Let you edit, copy and download the text as a plain .txt file.
What it can’t do
OCR is never perfect. Handwriting, low-quality photos, unusual fonts and complex layouts reduce accuracy, and the tool does not open PDF, HEIC or SVG files. Always review the result before relying on it.
Who runs this site
ImageToText OCR is an independent project. Its source code is public at github.com/mohammadali10-12/image-to-text-ocr. Questions, bug reports and suggestions are welcome — see the Contact page.
